Brussels Airlines

With a base of operations at Brussels International Airport, Brussels Airlines is Belgium's national carrier and its largest commercial airline. Its network is extensive, covering more than 50 European cities as well as destinations in Central and West Africa and Asia. The airline was created out of the merger of Virgin Express and SN Brussels Airlines with the new company becoming officially established on 31 March 2006 and announcing its new name on 7 November of the same year. Operations officially commenced on 25 March 2007, hence the company is still in its infancy.

The airline currently has 49 planes in its fleet with a mixture of Airbus, Boeing, BAe and Avro models. The Avro RJ85 is the most common model in the fleet with a total of 14 currently in operation. The Avro RJ100 is close behind with 12 craft. The Airbus A330-300s are the largest of the airline's craft and are capable of accommodating 264 passengers. While Brussels Airlines' business model is essentially that of a regular-cost airline, the company does cater significantly to the low-cost market on a variety of its routes. Low-cost bookings are subject to certain terms and conditions and lack the flexibility of high-priced tickets.

On board, passengers are offered a good standard of service irrespective of the class of cabin that they choose. Complimentary food and drink is offered to all passengers flying b.flex economy+ or higher and generally constitute hot meals on longer flights and a full bar service on all flights. Medium to long-haul routes offer in-flight entertainment with overhead or seat-back televisions (depending on the aircraft and route) showing movies, popular shows and documentaries. On short-haul flights, the airline provides the b.there in-flight magazine for passengers' reading pleasure.
