Air Norway is a small, low cost regional airline based at Ørland Main Air Station on Fosen in the picturesque southwest of Norway. The young airline just operates the one jet and has only been going for a few years yet provides an invaluable service for those wanting to get from Ørland to Oslo and from Oslo to Aarborg in Denmark.
Air Norway began in May of 2003 with the Ørland (northwest Norway) to Oslo (Norwegian capital) route with a single Fairchild Metro. The following January, Air Norway included another route - Oslo to Aalborg in Denmark - which is where part owner North Flying is based. The following year the town of Ørland bought a share in Air Norway and now owns the airline together with North Flying and private investors.
The company has just the one aircraft - an 18-seat Fairchild Swearingen SA-227AC Metro III - which it wet leases from North Flying in Denmark. The Royal Norwegian Air Force is the most common user of the service, flying personnel to and from the base at the airport in the capital on a daily basis. There are seven weekly flights on the Ørland / Oslo leg and one weekly flight on the Oslo / Aalborg leg.
In flight services are basic on Air Norway yet flight times are very short whichever route you take. Tickets can be booked via the internet on Air Norway's online portal, by telephoning reservations or via travel agents.
