Air North

Based in Whitehorse, Canada, Air North is a low-cost airline operating scheduled and charter flights throughout northwestern Canada. The main hub is at Whitehorse International Airport in the Yukon and serves the Northwest Territories, Alberta, British Columbia, and Fairbanks in Alaska.

Air North has been operating and flying since 1977 and they currently have two types of aircraft in the fleet, including two Boeing 737-200s and three Hawker Siddeley 748s. Prior to this, Air North operated a fleet of Cessna 172s and Douglas DC-3s.

Popular destinations include Calgary, Dawson City, Edmonton, Fairbanks and Vancouver, while the airline also has the certification to fly anywhere in North America via charter services. Scheduled flights from Whitehorse include: Calgary to Edmonton (on a triangular route configuration), Dawson City, Fairbanks, Inuvik, Old Crow, and Vancouver. Services from Dawson City go to Fairbanks, Inuvik, Old Crow, and Whitehorse. Dawson City, Fairbanks, Inuvik and Whitehorse are served from Old Crow.

On board services include coffee, juice, cold drinks and a variety of snacks. Beers and spirits are also available on all flights at a cost while smoking is prohibited.

Reservations can be made by calling Air North toll-free, through a travel agent or online. Booking online is the easiest way to make a reservation and Air North has a straightforward booking page. Simply print out your itinerary or record your booking number for when you check in.

Although the cut-off time for checking in is 20 minutes, passengers should aim to check in 90 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. You will be denied boarding if you arrive less than 20 minutes before departure. Air North operates both an assigned and non-assigned seating policy. Those travelling aboard the Hawker Siddeley aircraft will be on a first-come, first-serve basis while the Boeings have assigned seating.
