Air Malta

Air Malta has been Malta’s national airline since the 1970s and today operates flights to dozens of destinations to and from Europe and Africa. The airline is based at Malta International Airport in Luqa and also has two hubs in England, one at Birmingham International Airport in the Midlands and the other at Bristol International Airport in the southwest. Air Malta is easily Malta’s busiest airline with no other airline offering as many flights in and out of the country.

The company started out over 30 years ago with scheduled services being offered to London, Birmingham, Manchester, Frankfurt, Paris, Rome and Tripoli in early 1974. The airline today runs more than a dozen modern aircraft of various models including six Airbus A320s, five Airbus A319s and a couple of Boeing 737-300s.

There are 200 flights a day to more than 50 destinations, mostly in Europe as well as North Africa, including Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.

The airline and its staff have a reputation as being reliable, punctual and courteous both on the ground and in the air. In flight entertainment is good with complimentary newspapers, snacks, meals and beverages - the first alcoholic drink is free - and movies and television programmes such as documentaries. Air Malta also offers Club Class on selected routes, in addition to economy, for those who prefer to enjoy greater comfort and facilities such as better in-flight entertainment and airport services.

Flights with Air Malta can be booked online. The Air Malta website is very straightforward and user-friendly with special offers regularly available as well as car hire and hotel booking. Flights can also be booked though licensed travel agents or by calling reservations.
